New Blog and Spring Break

Hello everyone! (and by everyone, I mean Christi-pretty much the only person I think who actually reads our blog and my #1 commenter :) ).  We had a very crazy but fun spring break this past week! Last weekend, as said in the previous blog, we got to go down to Glide and hang out, which was a ton of fun, and then we went camping on the coast! It was soooo much fun! I love the coast- it is gorgeous, and unlike CA beaches, there is seriously no one around! We went out on the beach and i think we saw like 2 other people! That is probably because the water is freezing cold-very unlike CA beaches.  We discovered that Jackson is a little surfer in training! He ran all the way down the beach straight into the waves! They knocked him over and he totally did a face plant into the sand right there in the freezing cold water, and when I picked him up, he was laughing so hard!! We couldn't believe it! He is fearless! He just kept charging the waves over and over again, laughing the whole time. When we finally had to go because we were afraid he was going to get hypothermia, he threw a fit! We had to carry him kicking and screaming at the top of his lungs all the way back to the car!  He is going to love the beaches in CA when we go in July because he can play in the water all day practically and not freeze to death! John's mom, Sue, got some great shots of all the beach action. Here's just a few-

I love his faces in these pictures- he had so much fun!

Later in the week, back in Eugene, our sister-in-law Christi and her daughter Reagan who is just about to turn 2 found a great deal on a last minute flight out of Vegas and so they got to come stay with us for a couple of days! It was soooo much fun to see them! We miss them tons! Reagan is the funniest and smartest little girl.  She called Jackson, Jacksy all week.  Wednesday we all went swimming at Splash- an indoor wave pool and kiddie pool that also has a water slide, and Jackson and Reagan had so much fun.  They are both little water babies.  Jackson kept running back out into the wave pool.  Then yesterday, John, me, Jackson, Christi and Reagan all crammed into our car and drove up to Portland.  Christi has friends who live pretty close to the temple up there and wanted to go see them and being the super awesome sister that she is, she offered to watch Jack for us so we could go to the temple together! We were sooo excited because we don't really have anyone to watch him so we don't get to go too often, and when we do go we usually just take turns watching the little guy, so it was way nice to go together.  We also got to do a little shopping in downtown Portland and John pointed out the building he is going to be working in starting this July!  (the date got moved up from september, so we are moving July 1st now).  Christi and Reagan had to leave us and go back home today, (Sunday), and we miss them already.  Jack especially misses Reagan- they had so much fun together.  When we would try to put them down for their naps they would yell to each other through the doors. It was so funny. Reagan would yell hey! and Jack would yell hey! back to her and then Rea Rea would giggle and giggle.  They are two little goof balls.

So that is our Spring Break this year! Sorry I wrote so much about it- we just did a ton of stuff and had a ton of fun! It was a good break for John before he begins his last term since it is going to be a hard one. But after that he is done! Wahoo!!! Oh and special thanks to Christi for showing me how to change my blog template so it is actually cute! I have been wanting to do that forever and just didn't know how!  And thanks again for coming Christi! We miss you already!!  Here's a few more pictures from the week:

it's almost here....

Spring Break is almost here! John takes his last final tomorrow morning! Wahoo! It's been, once again, a busy busy term for all of us, and that is why we are getting out of Eugene.  Tomorrow we are going to head on down to Glide and stay with John's parents for a couple of days and spend Easter with them, and then we are going camping on the coast! John's parents and little sister are also coming for that, as well as his brother and wife, Jeff and Shalene.  I am way excited.  We have lived together in Oregon for almost 3 years and I still have not been to the coast up here!  The original plan was to have everything all packed up and waiting by the door and to have all the apartment stuff done and the place cleaned up by the time John got home from taking his test tomorrow so we could just pack up the car and head on out.  But I'm not so sure that is gonna go so well. It's 7:30pm right now, the place is a mess because the kids went crazy today, there is still a load of laundry to be done and about 2 loads on top of that to fold, the dishes aren't done, i haven't packed at all, Jackson is running around crazy and I have 1 out of the 14 things done on my things to do before we leave list. I have a feeling it is going to be a long night............. can't wait to be on the road tomorrow.

Rain, Rain Go Away.....

So we are getting pretty sick of the rain over here.  I am starting to get extreme jealousy as I view friends' blogs from Vegas, Hawaii, and Southern Cali. and see their sunshine, beautiful weather and their fun trips to the beach or the park.  Do you think you guys could please send some of that over here??? The poor kids (Jack and the little boy I watch, Kellen) beg me to take them outside everyday, but its pooring rain and still pretty cold!  Yesterday, Jackson kept bring his shoes to me saying with the cutest voice, "mamma, shoes, shoes!"-which to him, putting on his shoes means we are going outside.  The poor kid is getting bored to death of our little apartment.  We are so excited to move to a house.....just 3 1/2 more months!  But since we are still here in our little apartment for now, I decided to make the best of things and find some fun things to do within our apartment complex. So we put on our rain coats and boots, jumped in the puddles in the courtyard, threw each piece of recycling away one at a time while giving each other high fives each time, got the mail, and rode the elevator up to the 4th floor and back down and up again and back down and up and back down and up again and back down and.....(you get the picture-somethings never get boring to a 1 yr. old).  Then daddy came home and since it is finals week and he had just taken a test, he needed a break before studying for the next test. So together all three of us watched part of the Bee Movie, which so far is pretty cute, and Jack sure liked it.  So it actually turned out to be a fun day after all........I still hope the rain stops soon though and the sun comes out of hiding!!! :)  Here's some pictures from the day:

"Bath Time!!"

Jackson has always loved "bath time".  He looks forward to it every night after dinner and usually in the middle of dinner, (since he finishes eating in about 2 mins b/c he never eats anything!) he starts saying, "bath time!" He continues to say this while John and I finish eating.  And as soon as we get him down from his high chair he runs over to his bathroom, opens the door and starts trying to climb in.  Lately he really likes to have bubbles in his bath, and if I turn on the water and don't put any in he will point to the bubbles and say, "more more more!"  So this past sunday at church, while the sacrament is being passed around (of course when it is the quietest), John was quietly reading a sesame street book to Jack so he wouldn't disrupt the sacrament, and he turns the page and it is a picture of Ernie in the bath with his rubber duckie.  Immediately Jackson yells super loud, "bath time!!" It was so hard not to laugh.

***this video is made possible by our brand new Apple MacBook! Wahoo!! That's right, we finally bought a computer that is not 10 years old, slow as a turtle and about to die! We absolutely LOVE it!!! Best investment we have made yet! Thank goodness for sweet tax returns! (which happens when you are poor starving students and also have a kid :) )
